Arsenal priced out of move for former Atletico winger Carrasco

Arsenal have pulled the plug on their interest in former Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco, claims The Sun.

Carrasco wants to return to Europe after 18 months in China in order to make Belgium’s squad for Euro 2020.

The 25-year-old secured a big money move to Dalian Yifang at the start of 2018 and Arsenal were mooted as a potential destination for the winger this summer.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery was keen on signing Carrasco in the January transfer window but missed out on his signature.

Emery tried to rekindle Arsenal’s interest in Carrasco this summer but the Gunners have been priced out of a move.

Dalian Yifang are understood to be holding out for £30m for Carrasco, which Arsenal cannot afford as they continue to operate under a strict financial budget.

Carrasco has played a direct hand in nine goals in 10 league games for Dalian Yifang this season and has won the WhoScored Man of the Match award four times in that time.

In fact, only Renato Augusto (8.30) and Graziano Pelle (8.03) have a higher WhoScored rating in the Chinese Super League than Carrasco (7.94) this season.
