Manchester United outcast secures Parma move

Manchester United have confirmed Matteo Darmian has joined Serie A outfit Parma on a permanent deal.

Darmian has spent the last four years at United but has struggled to make any impact at the club under three different managers.

The 29-year-old has been angling for a return to Serie A for the last few years but United have played hardball over his valuation with the likes of Inter and Juventus.

United extended Darmian’s contract by a further 12 months in January but the Italy international would be free to leave for nothing at the end of the current campaign.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side slapped a €10m valuation on Darmian’s head at the start of the summer but it is understood Parma have agreed a deal for just £2.7m for the Italy international.

United have now offloaded four players to Serie A in quick succession with Darmian following in the footsteps of Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling in moving to Serie A.

Darmian dropped completely out of favour under Solskjaer making just two league appearances since his arrival in December. He has started just 10 league matches since August 2017.
