Aston Villa and Newcastle keen on Liverpool youngster

Aston Villa and Newcastle are leading the charge for Liverpool’s Harry Wilson, reports Sky Sports.

Wilson spent last season on loan with Championship side Derby and was a revelation for the Rams, who missed out on promotion to the Premier League in the play-off final.

The Wales international has returned to Liverpool this summer and Jurgen Klopp’s will not stand in his way of leaving if a suitable offer is received.

Liverpool have ruled out another loan move for the 22-year-old, however, and will only consider his departure on a permanent basis.

Villa and Newcastle are both looking to bolster their offensive options before the transfer window shuts on August 8 but face the prospect of paying more than £20m for Wilson.

Wilson finished last season as Derby’s highest WhoScored rated player in the Championship (7.01) after weighing in with 20 goals and assists (16 goals, four assists) in 43 matches.

Furthermore, no player in the division scored more goals from outside the penalty area than Wilson last term (seven).
