Manchester United boost as Real Madrid star questions future

Raphael Varane is contemplating his future at Real Madrid to put Manchester United on red alert, claims French outlet L’Equipe.

The 2018 World Cup winner has spent the last eight years at Madrid and has won every trophy on offer with the Spanish giants.

Varane believes his cycle at Madrid is coming to an end and is now contemplating his future at the club, though Zinedine Zidane’s return could change that.

The 25-year-old has a close relationship with Zidane and won three Champions Leagues in a row under the Frenchman.

United have been heavily linked with a move for Varane over the last few years and are on the market for a new world-class centre-back this summer.

United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, has already revealed he was willing to shell out in excess of £100m to sign Varane last summer.

Varane is regarded as one of the best defenders in the world and United would unlikely be the only team interested if he opts to leave Madrid.

The France international has, however, struggled with numerous injuries since signing for Madrid as an 18-year-old.

In fact, Varane has never made more than 30 league appearances in a single campaign for Madrid.
