Tottenham fear Harry Kane could be sidelined for up to a month with ankle ligament damage, claims The Daily Telegraph.
Kane, who has been plagued with ankle ligament injuries throughout his career, suffered the blow in the final seconds of Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United.
Tottenham are waiting for the swelling in Kane’s ankle to go down before they can complete a scan and make a proper assessment but fear their star striker is set for a spell on the sidelines.
Being ruled out for a month would mean Kane would miss the return leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea, as well as four Premier League matches and an FA Cup fourth round tie with Crystal Palace.
Tottenham host Borussia Dortmund on February 13 in the first leg of their last 16 tie in the Champions League and Kane would also be a serious doubt for that match.
With Son Heung-min unavailable for the foreseeable future due to his commitments with South Korea at the Asian Cup, Kane’s absence is a huge blow for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Pochettino now has Fernando Llorente as his only out-and-out striker and the Spaniard has been heavily linked with a return to Athletic Club this month, while Vincent Janssen does not feature in Tottenham’s first-team plans.
Kane has scored or assisted 11 goals in his last 10 matches in all competition for Tottenham and is the joint top-scorer in the Premier League with 14 goals.
