United reject West Brom’s bid for Schneiderlin

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed they have rejected West Brom’s opening offer for midfield outcast Morgan Schneiderlin.

Schneiderlin, 27, has been given the greenlight to end his Old Trafford misery when the transfer window opens next month but Mourinho has previously insisted he will only be allowed to leave if a team meets their valuation.

The France international has attracted interest from Everton, but it was West Brom that have taken a march in their pursuit of the former Southampton midfielder, although their opening offer of £13m was turned down by the Red Devils.

“We have not received one single offer that we are going to accept,” The Guardian quote Mourinho as saying in his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of United’s clash with Middlesbrough on New Year’s Eve.

“I don’t want to sell players. The club and the board is totally with me, but as I told before, if a player is not having lots of minutes and really wants to leave, we have no right to stop him leaving if the conditions are out conditions.”

Schneiderlin’s arrival from Southampton in 2015 was met with huge excitement by United supporters, with some still aggrieved he has not been afforded regular game time under either Louis van Gaal and now Mourinho.

In fact, United’s win ratio in the league with the Frenchman starting (56%) compared to a win rate of just 45.2% when the midfielder has not started.
