Suitors of Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho may have to look elsewhere for a new midfielder this summer after the former West Brom target committed his future to the Spanish outfit.
West Brom were heavily linked with a move for the midfielder in 2016 before turning their attention to Sporting midfielder William Carvalho, who they also failed to land.
Camacho’s current deal isn’t due to expire until 2019 and the midfielder, who is enjoying another fine campaign for the Spanish outfit, insists he is still happy at La Rosaleda.
“I am a Malaga player,” he told Radio Marca. “Today, there is nothing, in the future I do not know, I have a contract and I am very happy.”
The combative midfielder has won more tackles and interceptions in La Liga than any other player this season (210), although that has come at a price this season.
Only Fernando Amorebieta (17) has been shown more yellow cards in Europe’s top five leagues this season than Camacho (14), who has also chipped in with four league goals this season, the same total he managed in his two previous campaigns combined.
