Jackson Martinez’s agent has refused to rule out a move away from Atletico Madrid, amid mounting interest from Chelsea.
Martinez, 29, joined Atletico from Porto for £25m over the summer but has failed to really make any impact since making the move.
Chelsea will reportedly look to transform their forward options over the next six months following their dreadful start to the campaign and have been linked with a move for Martinez.
Reports in Spain had emerged suggesting Chelsea were plotting a deal that would see Costa return to Atletico and Martinez come the other way and the Colombia international’s agent insists there is some substance to those rumours.
“I can’t say it’s a lie, this is football and nobody know what the future holds, what I can say is that Jackson isn’t a player who leaves a club unless it’s through the front door” Martinez’s agent Henrique Pompeo told Spanish paper AS.
The former Porto striker was prolific in Portugal, but has endured a difficult start to life in the Spanish capital and has only featured in 11 matches thanks to a combination of niggling injuries and loss of form. Martinez only has three goals in all competitions this season, contributing to a statistically calculated weakness of ‘finishing’.
