City and Juventus on alert as Arsenal man stalls on contract
Manchester City and Juventus are monitoring Alexis Sanchez’s ongoing contract talks amidst reports negotiations have stalled, reports the Sunday Mirror.
Arsenal are keen to tie down the Chilean to a new long-term deal and discussions have been ongoing since August, but to no avail.
Alexis wants a substantial increase on his £130,000-a-week wages at the Emirates, with his current contract expiring in 18 months’ time.
City and Juventus are thought to be keeping tabs on the Chile star and are prepared to offer upwards of £50m to convince Arsenal to sell their prized asset.
The 27-year-old attacker has been in excellent form for Arsenal this season having netted six goals and registered three assists to help return a WhoScored rating of 7.78 in the Premier League, the best of all Arsenal players.
Juventus had hoped to sign Alexis from Udinese five years ago, only for the player to move instead to Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona and Arsenal fear they will be forced to sell their star man at the end of the season if an agreement between player and club before then.
However, Arsene Wenger’s side retain some hope that Alexis and Mesut Ozil will pen new long-term contracts in January.
