Silva wants Euro 2016 winner as first Everton signing

New Everton manager Marco Silva wants to making Sporting midfielder William Carvalho one of his first signings at the club, claims The Daily Mirror.

Silva was appointed Everton manager on Thursday and the former Hull and Watford head coach is already plotting the club’s transfer activity over the summer.

The 40-year-old wants to bolster his midfield options ahead of the new season and has made a reunion with Carvalho one of his top priorities.

Silva worked with the Euro 2016 winner during his short stint at Sporting and is hopeful of taking advantage of the current turmoil at the club.

Sporting face a mass exodus this summer after a group of the club’s ultras stormed their training ground at the end of last season, leaving several players with injuries.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the past and West Ham came close to prising him away from Portugal 12 months ago.

In the last two Liga NOS campaigns, Carvalho has won possession in the middle third at least 48 more times than any other player (304).
