Barcelona move for Tottenham target

Barcelona are exploring an emergency deal for Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose in an attempt to save their season, claims AS.

The Spanish giants are desperate to sign a new striker with Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele unlikely to play a part again this season.

Both have suffered long-term injuries over the last month and Barcelona and hoping to use a LaLiga ruling that will permit them to sign cover outside of the transfer window.

As Dembele's injury fell outside of the transfer window, Barcelona are able to sign someone from a LaLiga club within a 14-day period, as long as the Frenchman is out for longer than five months.

Barcelona have already been linked with moves for Getafe's Angel Rodriguez and Real Zaragoza forward Luis Suarez but it has now emerged Willian Jose is on their radar.

The Real Sociedad striker was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in the January transfer window and has only just been re-integrated back in the squad.

Barcelona's recent interest has rangled head coach Imanol Alguacil and he is adamant Jose will not be leaving before the end of the season.

However, it has not stopped Barcelona from exploring a potential deal for the 28-year-old and how much it would cost.

Willian Jose has scored eight goals in 22 league appearances for Real Sociedad this season but has a less-than-impressive WhoScored rating of 6.54.
