Roma have announced they have loaned out Seydou Doumbia to Switzerland giants FC Basel ahead of the new season.
Doumbia, 28, has failed to make an impact on the Serie A side since joining from CSKA Moscow in January 2015.
The Ivory Coast international endured a frustrating loan spell at Newcastle during the second half of last season and the Magpies turned down the chance to make the swap a permanent one.
Doumbia only managed 29 minutes of football for Newcastle in three separate substitute appearances and failed to score in that time.
