Defender trades Bayern for Juventus

Mehdi Benatia has completed a move to Juventus on an initial season-long loan from Bayern Munich, the Italian champions have confirmed.

The Moroccan international returns to Serie A after just two seasons in Germany, where he started just 24 league matches under Pep Guardiola at Bayern. Benatia has four years experience of Italy’s top-flight across spells at Udinese and Roma and returns to Serie A after a loan fee of €3m was agreed, with the Old Lady needing to fork out a further €17m to make the deal permanent next summer.

He joins former Roma teammate Miralem Pjanic in Turin after Bosnian international also made the move to the Serie A giants, and is now tasked with forcing his way into Juventus’ famed back three.
