Manchester United to make opening offer of £25m for top transfer target
Manchester United will start their bidding for Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka at £25m, claims the London Evening Standard.
Wan-Bissaka has been earmarked as a top transfer target by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who wants to sign a new first choice right-back for next season.
Matteo Darmian is expected to follow Antonio Valencia out of the club this summer, while Ashley Young turns 34 later this year and endured a torrid end to this season.
United still have faith in 20-year-old Diogo Dalot but the former Porto defender still has a lot of development ahead of him.
Wan-Bissaka has only been a Palace first-team player since the beginning of last season but is already considered one of the best full-backs in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old reiterated his commitment to Palace at their end of season awards but United are still pushing to sign the England Under-21 international.
Solskjaer’s side are even poised to table their first offer, though it will fall well short of Palace’s £50m valuation.
Only Wilfred Ndidi (143) and Idrissa Gueye (142) made more tackles than Wan-Bissaka (129) in the Premier League this season.
Furthermore, Wan-Bissaka was remarkably only dribbled past 10 times in the league this term, which is an incredible return considering his position.
