Aston Villa announce arrival of former Liverpool goalkeeper
Aston Villa have signed AC Milan goalkeeper Pepe Reina on loan for the remainder of the season, the Premier League club has announced.
The Premier League strugglers were forced to sign a new goalkeeper following Tom Heaton's season-ending injury at the start of the month.
Reina, who watched Villa's 6-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday from the stands, returns to the Premier League for the first time since 2014.
The former Spain international spent nine years at Liverpool and is expected to make his Villa debut in next weekend's trip to Brighton.
Reina has spent the last 18 months at Milan but spent that time warming the bench for Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The 37-year-old has only made five league appearances for Milan since the beginning of last season.
Despite barely featuring, Reina is one of only three Milan players to committ an error directly leading to an opposition goal in Serie A (1 error).
