Newcastle dealt Krul blow

Newcastle United have been dealt a harsh blow in their attempts to beat the drop after confirming No.1 goalkeeper Tim Krul will miss the rest of the story through injury.

Krul, 27, ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while on international duty with the Netherlands during the week.

“I’m devastated the scan has confirmed my biggest fear. My recovery and hard work starts now to fully recover,” Krul posted on his official Twitter account.

Newcastle dealt Krul blow

Krul, who joined Newcastle in 2006, has played in all eight-league games for the Magpies this season.

Steve McClaren’s side are currently bottom of the Premier League and still looking for their first win of the season.

Newcastle have also confirmed they’ve recalled reserve goalkeeper Freddie Woodman from a loan spell at League Two club Crawley Town.
