Jordan Henderson's future at Liverpool has been thrown into doubt with no progress made in talks over a new deal, claims The Athletic.
Henderson has entered the last two years of his exisiting Liverpool contract and talks over a new deal have been underway since the end of last season.
However, it has now emerged no significant progress has been made and Liverpool may even consider selling their captain before 2023.
Liverpool watched Gini Wijnaldum run down his contract and leave for nothing this summer and want to avoid a repeat situation with Henderson.
The 31-year-old has spent the last decade at Liverpool and after a rocky start to life at Anfield has emerged as a real legend at the club.
Henderson has captained Liverpool to Champions League and Premier League glory in recent years, helping the club win their first league title in 30 years.

Henderson missed Liverpool's final 16 games of last season through injury but managed to recover in time to play a back-up role for England at Euro 2020.
The Liverpool midfielder was limited to just five substitute appearances but came off the bench against Ukraine in the quarter-finals to score to score his first ever goal for England.
Henderson finished 2020/21 averaging more passes per game than any other player in the Premier League (86.4).
