Rodriguez confirms interest from Serie A giants

James Rodriguez has confirmed he turned down the chance to join Inter in order to salvage his career at Real Madrid.

The Colombia international was heavily linked with a move away from Madrid in the summer after dropping down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane last season.

A host of Premier League sides were reportedly interested in Rodriguez’s services but interest from Inter emerged over the weekend, which the 25-year-old has since confirmed.

“Playing here is a dream, I never wanted to leave. I would like to play more continuously, but there are so many champs here,” Calciomercato quote Rodriguez as saying after Madrid’s win over Espanyol at the weekend.”

“I am in great terms with Zidane. It’s true, Inter wanted me, but I decided to stay.”

In the last three La Liga campaigns no midfielder has scored more goals from outside the box in Europe’s big five leagues than Rodriguez (11).
