Barcelona flop closing in on shock Zenit move

Russian giants Zenit Saint Petersburg are in talks to sign Barcelona outcast Malcom, claims MARCA.

Barcelona only signed Malcom from Bordeaux 12 months ago but are ready to discard their £36.5m investment after just one season.

The Spanish giants need to balance their books after signing Antoine Griezmann for a club-record €120m (£107m) fee.

Barcelona are reportedly looking fetch in the region of €150m (£136.2m) in player sales before the transfer window shuts next month.

Malcom was rarely given the opportunity to prove his worth last season and Griezmann’s arrival has come at the cost of his future at the club.

A move to the Premier League has been mooted in the past but it has now emerged Zenit are the clear frontrunners for his signature.

Zenit have the financial resources to pull off a big deal this summer after selling Leandro Paredes to Paris Saint-Germain in January for €40m (£36.3m).

Malcom only made 15 league appearances for Barcelona last season and only six of those came as starts. He scored one goal and provided two assists in that time.
