Arsenal target wants to stay put for another season

Arsenal have been served a blow in their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe as the striker wants one more season at Monaco to consolidate a place in the France team for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, claims RMC, via Get French Football.

Monaco have already rejected three bids for the 18-year-old this summer and Real Madrid are expected to return with a world record offer in the region of £115m as Zinedine Zidane’s side look to secure the services of one of the most highly rated youngsters in the world.

Arsenal manager Arsenal Wenger is also deseperate to bring the teenager to the Emirates this summer and hopes to convince the striker of making the move by making him the star of his team.

However, Mbappe understands that a move away to one of the biggest clubs in Europe could compromise his chances of making Didier Deschamps’ squad for the World Cup next summer, whereas he is guaranteed first-team football at Monaco until then.

Monaco are also not interested in selling their star man and plan to offer the striker a contract extension with a significant wage hike as soon as he returns from international duty with the France squad.

In Mbappe’s breakthrough campaign for Monaco he scored 26 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions.
