Borussia Dortmund sign Liverpool target

Gladbach have announced they have agreed a deal to sell rising star Mahmoud Dahoud to their Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.

Dahoud, 21, would have only had 12 months remaining on his current deal at the end of the season and Dieter Hecking’s side have been forced to cash-in on the midfielder rather than losing him for nothing at the end of next season.

The Germany Under-21 international was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool throughout the season but Jurgen Klopp has missed out on his signature to his former club.

“Mahmoud Dahoud will leave Borussia Monchengladbach this summer, with the 21-year-old completing a transfer to fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, one year ahead of his contract end date,” a statement read on Gladbach’s official website.

Since the start of last season only Thomas Muller (15) has registered more assists from open play in the Bundesliga than Dahoud (12).
