Real Madrid star James Rodriguez will be put on a special training regime to improve his fitness amid talk of a row with manager Zinedine Zidane, according to AS.
There is a suspicion in Madrid that Rodriguez is not taking his career seriously enough and his frequent trips to Dubai and involvement in a high-speed police chase would only make those worries seem more pertinent.
Rodriguez was reportedly involved in a dispute with Zidane during their 5-1 win over Sporting Gijon at the weekend when the Colombia international stopped warming up prematurely.
Reports have emerged from Rodriguez’s native Colombia suggesting the 24-year-old isn’t in the right physical condition and Zidane is now looking to get the World Cup 2014 star into shape with the help of club trainers Bernardo Requena and Hamidou Msaide.
It has been more than a month since Rodriguez completed a full 90 minutes for Madrid and he has started from the bench in both of Zidane’s first two matches as Los Blancos manager.
The Colombia international joined Madrid for more than £60m from Monaco after playing a lead role in the World Cup in 2014. Since then, no player to have featured in at least five La Liga matches has required more minutes per key pass than Rodriguez (27.3 mins).
