Liverpool lose striker for the season

Liverpool will be forced to finish the season without summer signing Christian Benteke, reports the Daily Mirror.

The striker sustained a knock while on international duty with Belgium last week and scans have since confirmed he has damaged a lateral collateral ligament.

The 25-year-old will be ruled out for a least a month, though is expected to recover in time for Euro 2016.

While Benteke has struggled for regular game time and form following his arrival from Aston Villa, his absence will come as a blow to manager Jurgen Klopp and the club as they look to secure a European spot for next season.

However, he's unlikely to feature for Klopp's Liverpool side again this term and could well have already played his final game for the Merseyside outfit.
