Jonny Evans has provided Tony Pulis with a boost after pledging his future to West Brom this summer.
West Brom have already lost captain Darren Fletcher and the departure of Evans, who has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal, would have been a hammer blow so early in the summer.
Evans has a pillar of consistency for West Brom since joining from Manchester United in 2015 and the Northern Ireland international insists he is not thinking about leaving the club despite the fact Pulis has already conceded it would be hard for the club to turn down a big offer for the 29-year-old.
“Maybe he’s trying to get rid of me - has he had enough?” Evans joked to Sky Sports. “It gives you confidence when the manager appreciates you. It shows his belief that you’ve done a good job and hope I can continue doing that for West Brom.
“I’ve always been interested by football outside of Britain. It’s something I’ve always kept an eye on. When you get asked that question you’re not going to say ‘no I’lll never go there’ because you never know. But it’s something I’ve thought ‘maybe one day I’ll give it a try’.”
In the last two Premier League campaigns only Simon Francis (305) and Laurent Koscielny (279) have won possession in the defensive third more times than Evans (267).
