Sampdoria register shock interest in Arsenal midfielder

Sampdoria have been told they will need to pay £9m to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, reports Sky Italia, via Football Italia.

Wilshere is currently recovering from a broken leg suffered in April while on loan at Bournemouth,  but does not appear to have a long-term future at the Emirates.

A series of serious injuries looks to have robbed Wilshere of a huge career and Arsene Wenger appears to have moved on with the England international, who is now well down in the pecking order for places at the club.

Roma and AC Milan were heavily linked with a move for the 25-year-old 12 months ago before he opted to join Bournemouth and now Sampdoria are the latest Italian club to register an interest.

Wilshere appeared to have overcome his injury concerns prior to breaking his leg against Tottenham in April. 22 league starts for the Cherries represents his most involved campaign since the 2010/11 season with Arsenal.

In the Premier League last season only Kevin De Bruyne (9) and Paul Pogba (6) were denied by the woodwork on more occasions than Wilshere (5), who failed to score a single league goal at Bournemouth.
