Mourinho open to third spell at Chelsea

Jose Mourinho is open to a third spell as Chelsea manager, claims The Sun.

Chelsea have twice sacked Mourinho, first doing so in 2007 and then again in 2015.

Mourinho has been out of work since being dismissed as Manchester United head coach in December and is keen to get back into football management.

The Portuguese missed out on a return to Real Madrid at the end of last season and his agent, Jorge Mendes, has been unsuccessful in getting him the Paris Saint-Germain job.

Mourinho has already turned down the chance to manage Benfica, while he has previously been linked with Roma and Celtic.

However, it has now emerged the 56-year-old would welcome the chance to manage Chelsea for a third time.

Chelsea are expected to be on the market for a new manager with Maurizio Sarri heavily linked with a move to Juventus after just one season at the club.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea would entertain another move for Mourinho, though he still has a good relationship with owner Roman Abramovich.

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is the favourite to replace Sarri if the Italian leaves this summer, while Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has even been linked with a shock return to Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho was a fan favourite at Chelsea until becoming United manager where he had numerous run-ins with supporters when the Red Devils played away to the Blues.

Mourinho won the Premier League title three times across two spells at Chelsea and had a win ratio of 63.2% in that time.
