Crystal Palace ready to sell Benteke

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson will look to sell Christian Benteke this summer, claims The Daily Mail.

Benteke has struggled to get going this season and now Hodgson has run out of patience with the club’s most expensive signing of all-time.

The 27-year-old currently earns £120,000-a-week and that could prove a major stumbling block for Palace in their attempts to offload him this summer.

Palace shelled out in the region of £30m to sign the Belgium international from Liverpool in August 2016 and they will struggle to get anywhere near that if they are relegated this season.

Hodgson’s side are arguably playing the best football of all the sides threatened by relegation to the Championship but they are still only six points clear of the bottom three.

Benteke was briefly linked with a move to Chelsea in January before Antonio Conte’s side turned to Olivier Giroud.

The Palace striker has remarkably only scored two league goals all season. Furthermore, of Premier League players that have scored more than once this season, only two have a worse conversion rate than Benteke (3.5%).
