Havertz interested by prospect of joining Manchester United

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Kai Havertz with the Bayer Leverkusen sensation open to a move, claims the Manchester Evening News.

Havertz has been billed as one of the top youngsters of European football ever since his breakthrough for Leverkusen four years ago.

The Germany international struggled for form last season and even during the first half of the 2019/20 campaign but has been one of the best players in Europe since the turn of the year.

Havertz is now firmly on the radar of every top club in Europe and reportedly has his eyes on a Premier League move at the end of the season.

Liverpool or United have been tipped as Havertz's most likely destinations should he leave his boyhood club and the versatile forward is receptive to the idea of joining the latter.

United are planning a big Bundesliga raid at the end of the season with Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho their first-choice transfer target.

It remains to be seen whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has enough room in his budget for both Sancho and Havertz or whether he will only move for the latter if Dortmund play hardball.

Havertz's versatility will particularly appeal to Solskjaer, as the 20-year-old is capable of playing as a No.10, on the wing and has recently proved he can play as a striker.

His last five Bundesliga appearances have been up front and he has scored six goals in that time. Indeed, Havertz has played a direct hand in 13 goals in his last 12 league appearances.
