Real Madrid still want Tottenham ace despite new deal
Hugo Lloris is still on Real Madrid’s radar this summer despite the fact the France international signed a new deal with Tottenham in December that runs until 2022, reports The Daily Telegraph.
The reigning European champions are still in the market for a marquee name between the sticks after missing out on Manchester United ace David de Gea in 2015 and Zinedine Zidane’s side have been heavily linked with a number of goalkeepers since.
Chelsea No.1 Thibaut Courtois has often been mooted with a return to Spain but Madrid were quoted in excess of £70m for his services in 2015 and the current Premier League leaders won’t have reduced that asking price off the back of this season’s strong performances.
As a result, Madrid are still interested in bring Lloris to La Liga despite the fact he only just agreed to extend his stay after months of negotiations.
Lloris is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League after joining Tottenham from Lyon in 2012. However, the Tottenham captain is prone to an error, which was evident in their recent 2-2 draw with Manchester City. In fact, only four players have committed more errors that have directly led to an opposition goal in the Premier League in that time than Lloris (10).
