Manchester United enter race for Chelsea target

Manchester United have thrown their hat in the ring for the signature of sought after Celtic star Moussa Dembele, reports The Independent.

Dembele was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the January transfer window after enjoying a sensational maiden campaign with Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.

The 20-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate only joined Brendan Rodgers’ side from Championship outfit Fulham on a free at the start of the season but his blistering form may only see his stint in Scotland last a season.

Celtic, aware of the interest from the Premier League, have already valued the France underage international at £30m and would certainly be able to command that figure if United firm up their interest in the youngster.

Jose Mourinho’s side believe a deal to sign first choice target Antoine Griezmann could be too complicated this summer and have started to evaluate alternative options, with Dembele now among them.

Dembele has scored 24 goals in 34 competitive appearances for Celtic this season, which included three goals in the Champions League group stages.
