Liverpool yet to receive offers for Benteke, says agent
Liverpool are yet to receive an offer for striker Christian Benteke says the player’s agent, but are hoping to come to a resolution over his future soon.
The Belgian is widely expected to leave Anfield this summer after a disappointing season on Merseyside, with Crystal Palace and West Ham both interested in the frontman.
Palace had reportedly seen a bid for Benteke accepted earlier in the summer, but his agent, Eris Kismet, has denied that there is an agreement in place that would see Benteke depart the Reds.
“We are waiting for any news but at this moment there is nothing concrete,” he told the Guardian.
“There are several teams interested in signing him so hopefully we can reach a resolution soon.”
Benteke scored nine league goals for Liverpool last season, but manager Jurgen Klopp made it clear that the Belgium international is not part of his plans for the coming season.
Ahead of Saturday’s 4-0 win over Barcelona, the Liverpool boss said: “Christian already said it maybe makes sense for him to go to another club and that’s the situation at this moment,”
“Christian is still a great striker and that’s how it is, but we have a few more strikers and in this moment it makes more sense to give them match time and that is what we did.
“If there are clubs that want a striker from us they have to make real offers and are not hoping for anything else, otherwise we will find solutions.
“If there is a need on the other side then go for it – but not as a present. That’s how transfers are. A few clubs try to gamble but we are not part of the gambling side. We are serious people, and if there is an offer we will think about it.
“We will see what happens but at the end if someone wants a player from us he has to pay as we have only good players.”
