Serie A giants eye City defender

Roberto Mancini is keen on reuniting with Pablo Zabaleta at Inter, according to The Times.

Inter are on the market to bolster the right side of their defence and have already been linked with Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, whose contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

Zabaleta, 30, has only started two league games this season and has entered the final 18 months of his deal at the Etihad.

The Argentina international was one of the first names on the teamsheet and regarded as the best right-back in the Premier League during Mancini’s four-year spell (2009-2013) as City manager.

In fact, during that time only two players made more tackles in the Premier League than Zabaleta (487), furthering his strongest statistically calculated strength of 'tackling'.
