Arsene Wenger makes big revelation about Arsenal future

Arsene Wenger has revealed he will not retire from management this summer but could still walk away from Arsenal after 21 years at the club at the end of the season.

The 67-year-old’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and will wait until March or April before deciding whether to accept the current offer of a new deal that has been on the table from Arsenal for some time now.

Arsenal’s embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Wednesday has certainly pushed Wenger closer to leaving the club with the ‘Wenger Out’ campaign demanding his head at the end of the season.

However, it was always thought that Wenger would retire once he felt his time at Arsenal had come to an end but the Frenchman has sent shockwaves through the football world after revealing he will not retire this summer but that doesn’t mean he will still be at the Emirates next season.

“At the moment we have other priorities and my future is not important, it’s Arsenal Football Club, the future of our team and what we can achieve until the end of the season that is important,” Sky Sports quote Wenger as saying in the build up to their FA Cup fifth-round clash away to Sutton United.

“No matter what happens I will manage next season – here or somewhere else. That’s absolutely for sure.

“I hate to lose games and I want to do well for this club. You don’t stay somewhere for 20 years, walk out of a defeat like that and whistle. It’s difficult to take but I have the strength to respond.”

Arsenal are in danger real danger of going another season without silverware this term. The FA Cup, a competition they’ve won twice in recent years, is now their only realistic shot of ending the season with a trophy.

The Gunners have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions. Wenger’s side are 10 points adrift of Premier League leaders Chelsea and only a point above Liverpool in fourth place, while they are now longer in the League Cup and their exit from the Champions League is all but certain.
