Inter midfielder offered to Tottenham

Inter have offered Tottenham the chance to sign midfielder Matias Vecino for £18m this summer, claims The Daily Star.

The Serie A giants are looking to offload Vecino at the end of the season and are hoping to use the Premier League as their dumping ground.

Vecino has spent the last three years at Inter but has struggled for regular playing time under Antonio Conte this season.

Inter are well-stocked in central midfield, even more so following Christian Eriksen's January arrival from Tottenham, and Vecino has been limited to just 14 league starts in 2019/20.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho wants to freshen things up in midfield over the summer and has been given the chance to sign Vecino by his old club.

However, Mourinho has reportedly been told there is no budget to work from as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Mourinho will instead have to navigate his first summer transfer window as Tottenham manager looking for free agents and loan signings.

It means that even at £18m, Vecino may prove out of reach for the north London outfit, though Everton and Arsenal are reportedly also in the mix for his services.

Despite struggling for consistent playing time at Inter this season, Conte's side actually have a superior win ratio in Serie A when Vecino has started (71.4%) compared to when he hasn't featured from the off (54.5%).
