United starlet turned down Liverpool for Old Trafford

Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard has admitted he turned down the chance to play for Liverpool to secure a move to Old Trafford.

In an interview with the club’s official website, the Warrington-born wideman revealed he was offered the chance to trial with both teams before opting to stick closer to home.

Lingard, 22, has emerged as a star at Old Trafford in the last few weeks and is now in line to earn his England debut when Roy Hodgson’s men line up against France on Tuesday evening at Wembley despite only featuring for 169 minutes this season.

The United starlet has recently usurped Memphis in the pecking order at United and of players to have appeared at least twice this season, only two teammates are requiring fewer minutes per dribble in the Premier League than Lingard (56.4 mins).
