Roma sell Nainggolan and sign replacement

Roma have announced they have signed Javier Pastore from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth €24.7m (£21.8m).

Pastore has spent the last seven years at PSG but has returned to Italy after slipping down the pecking order at the French giants in recent years.

The Argentina international was heavily linked with a move to Inter last season and West Ham expressed an interest before his move to Roma.

Roma sold Radja Nainggolan to Inter in a deal worth €24m, plus Davide Santon and Nicolo Zaniolo, and have now announced the arrival of Pastore as his replacement.

“I am very happy to be here at Roma,” he told the club’s official website.

“It is great to return to Italy, and to do it with such a great club.

“I hope to repay in full all the enthusiasm, support and affection that Roma fans have shown me already.”

Pastore has struggled to stay fit for prolonged periods in recent years, which is part of the reason for his decline at PSG.

The 29-year-old was limited to 14 starts in Ligue 1 last season, making a further 11 appearances from the bench. Despite a lack of regular playing time, Pastore weighed in with nine goals (four goals, five assists).
