Manchester United defender free to leave on loan in January

Jose Mourinho is willing to let Luke Shaw leave Manchester United on loan in January in order to get regular playing time, reports The Sun.

Shaw’s United career has been nothing short of a nightmare and Mourinho has already conceded the 22-year-old faces a tough fight to force his way back into contention.

Ashley Young’s surprise emergence as United’s first choice left-back has only pushed Shaw further down the pecking order and soon a decision will have to be made on his long-term future at Old Trafford.

Shaw is determined to prove himself to Mourinho but the United boss is reportedly happy to let him find first-team football elsewhere in January before selling him permanently at the end of the season.

The former England international has only managed 48 minutes of competitive action for United this season after missing the start of the campaign with an ankle injury, while he is still waiting for his first Premier League appearance this term.
