Newcastle have announced they have signed Matt Ritchie from Bournemouth in a deal worth a reported £12m.
Ritchie, 26, played a vital part in Bournemouth’s rise through the English football ladder but has ended his three years at the club to drop back into the Championship with Newcastle.
The Scotland international’s arrival is Newcastle’s third signing of the summer in just the last two days following the arrival of goalkeeper Matz Sels and Crystal palace striker Dwight Gayle.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling to come to a football club like this,” Ritchie told Newcastle’s official website.
“I loved it at Bournemouth – I had a fantastic time there and it had a huge impact on my career. But when a club like Newcastle comes calling, I couldn’t pass up this opportunity.
“It’s a fantastic to be here and I’m really looking forward to the challenge of getting the club back in the Premier League.”
In Ritchie’s last season in the Championship (14/15), no player registered more assists than the Scot.
