Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is the next high profile player on the radar of the Chinese Super League with two clubs willing to offer the forward a staggering £700,000-a-week, reports The Daily Mirror.
Shanghai SIPG have already acquired Chelsea midfielder Oscar in a deal worth £60m this month and the Chinese Super League aren’t interested in stopping there with more Premier League players in their sights.
Rooney is no longer a guaranteed starter for club or country and appears to be have little long-term future at United under Jose Mourinho despite starting in three of their last four matches.
The 31-year-old, who has two years remaining on his existing deal with United, previously rejected a move to Beijing Guoan last summer, but CSL champions Guangzhou Evergrande are now willing to more than double his current £300,000-a-week wages in order to land the iconic Premier League striker.
Despite struggling for form and game time this season, Rooney has still registered more assists than any other United player in the Premier League this season (5), while only Adam Lallana and Wilfried Zaha have registered more of all Englishman in the league this term (both 6).
