Antoine Griezmann’s release clause has dropped back to €100m (£91.6m) to put Manchester United on red alert, reports Marca.
The France international signed a bumper new deal with Atletico at the start of June after turning down the chance to join Manchester United at the start of the summer.
Griezmann’s release clause doubled to €200m (£183.1m) for the remainder of the transfer window to ward off potential suitors but has dropped back to it’s original value since the market for Spanish clubs closed on Friday.
Atletico are currently serving a transfer ban until January and moved to protect themselves when rewarding the 26-year-old with a lucrative new contact.
However, United and any other potential admirers will still be able to buy Griezmann for the original €100m buy-out clause in 12 month's time, which will certainly appeal to Jose Mourinho.
Griezmann scored a brace in France’s 4-0 win over Netherlands on Friday but endured a start to forget in La Liga after being sent off in Atletico’s shock 2-2 draw away to newly promoted Girona on the opening weekend. In fact, that was the first dismissal of his professional career for club or country.
