Malaga are on the verge of handing Borja Baston an escape route back to Spain by signing the striker on a season-long loan deal, reports Diario Sur, via Football Espana.
Baston became the most expensive player in Swansea’s history when he signed from Eibar in a deal worth £15m but the 24-year-old failed to make any impression in the Premier League last season.
The Spanish striker has no future at Swansea under Paul Clement and is now poised to complete a move to Malaga where he will replace Sandro Ramirez, who joined Everton on Monday.
Malaga will also have the option to sign Baston for €12m (£10.5m) at the end of next season as the striker looks to put a nightmare 12 months behind him.
Baston scored 18 goals in his final season at Eibar before securing a move to Swansea, but finished last season as the second lowest rated player in the Premier League of those to make more than 15 appearances (6.11).
