New Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery has decided Alphonse Areola will be the club’s No.1 goalkeeper next season, leaving Kevin Trapp’s position at the club in a precarious position, reports France Football, via Get French Football.
Trapp, 25, is only 12 months into the five-year deal he signed when he joined from German side Eintracht Frankfurt last season.
However, the Germany international’s career with the capital club already looks like it could be coming to a close after it was revealed Emery wants to bring Areola back to the first-team and promote him to be his No.1 goalkeeper for next season.
Of goalkeepers to have made more than 10 appearances in La Liga last season, only three goalkeepers finished the campaign with a better save success rate than Areola (76.4%).
