Tottenham step up interest in Lazio wantaway

Tottenham are looking to make two big signings before the transfer window closes this month by landing Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez and Lazio forward Keita Balde, reports The Daily Mirror.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are the only Premier League team yet to make a signing this summer but the Tottenham manager has promised supporters there will be new recruits before the month is out.

Ajax have already rejected Tottenham’s opening offer for Sanchez are reportedly holding out for €40m (£36.3m), while the Premier League outfit are now also keen to bolster their offensive options with the arrival of Keita.

The Senegal international has entered the final 12 months of his current Lazio deal and the Italian side may be forced to cash in rather than losing him for nothing next summer.

Keita has been heavily linked with a move to almost every big Serie A side this summer but Tottenham have now entered the race for the 22-year-old.

The Lazio star was left out of the squad that beat Juventus 3-2 in the Super Cup at the weekend, suggesting he is destined to leave this summer.

Only Mauro Icardi (63.2%) had a better on-target conversion rate than Keita (57.1%) in Serie A last season of players that scored at least 10 goals.
