Arsene Wenger has been served a huge blow in his pursuit of Thomas Lemar after Monaco slapped a stunning £80m valuation on his head to ward off interest, reports The Daily Mirror.
Arsenal have already broken their club-transfer record to sign Alexandre Lacazette this summer but have now been told they will need to make his France international team-mate one of the world’s most expensive players.
While the Ligue 1 champions have allowed some players to leave the club this summer, they have no interest in letting Lemar depart after Tiemoue Bakayoko completed a £40m deal to Chelsea earlier this month.
The Gunners have already had several bids for the 21-year-old turned down this summer and now Monaco are demanding £80m in a bid to ward off interest in their star winger for the remainder of the summer.
Lemar, who is known for a deadly ability from set-pieces, had the second most attempts from direct free-kicks in Ligue 1 last season (16), while only Morgan Sanson (14) provided more assists than Lemar (10).
