Sevilla have confirmed Michael Krohn-Dehli will be sidelined for between seven and eight months with a dislocated knee.
Krohn-Dehli, 32, suffered the eye-watering injury in Sevilla’s Europa League semi-final first leg encounter with Shakhtar Donetsk on Thursday.
The Denmark international fell awkwardly just 13 minutes after coming on as a second half substitute in their 2-2 draw with the Ukrainian outfit and is not likely to return to the playing field until next year.
His absence is a particular blow to Sevilla’s chances of retaining the Europa League title for a third year in succession. In fact, of Sevilla players to have made at least three appearances in the Europa League this season, only Ever Banega (2.2) averages more key passes per game than Krohn-Dehli (1.6).
