Manchester City pull out of race for Alexis Sanchez
Manchester City are no longer in the running to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, reports Goal.
Pep Guardiola’s side were the frontrunners for Sanchez’s signature at the start of the month but now Manchester Untied are poised to land the 29-year-old.
City agreed terms with Sanchez but were not willing to meet Arsenal’s £35m valuation, which opened the door for United.
Jose Mourinho’s side have even put together a better financial package for Sanchez and his representatives and City were far from impressed when Sanchez’s agent returned asking for more money.
Guardiola is in total agreement with the City hierarchy about pulling the plug on a deal for Sanchez and will instead plan ahead to the summer to make a marquee signing.
United are now expected to wrap up a deal for Sanchez in the coming days with a view to giving him his debut away to Burnley next weekend.
Sanchez was left out of Arsenal’s squad for Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth, signalling a move away is imminent.
The Chile international has scored seven league goals for Arsenal this season, half as many as he managed at this stage of the 2016/17 campaign.
