Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe has responded to speculation linking him with a big money move to Real Madrid in the summer by claiming they only sign players at the peak of their games.
Mbappe, 18, has become one of the stories of the season across Europe after bursting onto the scene with unbelievable success and is now being linked with high profile moves to all of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The France international has reportedly emerged as a target for Madrid but the Monaco ace has poured cod water over those suggestions after claiming he is not at the stage of his career in which Zinedine Zidane’s side look to sign players.
“Today, I am at Monaco,” Get French Football quote Mbappe as telling reporters during the international break. “Real Madrid, we will see later. For the moment, I am at Monaco.
“Real Madrid is a great club. But I still have a lot to learn. Real Madrid is a club that you should go to when you are mature, at the top of your game. I do not think that I am at the top of my game yet.”
No player aged 21 or under has scored more goals in Europe’s top five leagues this season than Mbappe (14).
