Ashley Young offered new 12-month deal by Manchester United

Manchester United have offered Ashley Young a 12-month extension but the veteran is holding out for a longer deal, claims The Daily Mail.

Young is one of several United players that have contracts due to expire at the end of the season but the Red Devils are working on new deals.

The 33-year-old has enjoyed a stunning renaissance in his United career over the last few years, adapting as a dependable full-back.

Young is effectively United captain at the moment now that Antonio Valencia is deemed surplus to requirements and almost certainly set to leave in the summer.

As well as offering Juan Mata a 12-month extension, United have moved to secure Young’s services for next season.

Aware that his best days are coming to an end, Young wants a longer deal to see out his remaining years at Old Trafford.

Young, who has been linked with a move to Inter, has started 44 of a possible 61 league matches for United since the beginning of last season.
