“For several weeks the midfielder Abou Diaby suffered a problem in his right ankle,” a statement read on Marseille’s official website.

“Given the persistence of pain and unable to train normally, the medical staff decided the need for surgery. Abou Diaby underwent surgery last Thursday.

“His absence is estimated at four months. Marseille wish a speedy recovery to Abu and hope to see him as soon as possible.”
