Arsenal put on red alert as top target requests exit

 

Julian Draxler has put Premier League giants Arsenal on red alert after admitting he wants to leave Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. 

 

The Germany international has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League side in recent weeks, with Arsene Wenger keen to bolster in the final third this summer. 

 

Draxler only moved to Wolfsburg 12 months ago from Schalke having been on the cusp of a switch to Juventus at the time, yet is now prepared to secure a move away from the one-time German champions. 

 

The The 22-year-old has voiced his unhappiness at comments coming out about his future at the club, telling German publication Bild: “Before you go public like that, you really should speak with me first. 

 

“The situation with me is that I made it clear to (coach) Dieter Hecking after we were knocked out of Euro 2016 in the semi-final that I would like to leave Wolfsburg. 

 

“The coach has known about this for three weeks. 

 

“It’s very surprising that they have been talking about me to the media for weeks. I would have expected things to be different, for example for one of them to come to me and ask me how things are with me.”

The news will appeal to Arsenal, who have been credited with an interest in Draxler for much of the summer.
